PILOT SPORT PS2 - MAX PERFORMANCE - SUMMER |
|
|
|
 |
|
PILOT SPORT PS2 |

|
The Pilot Sport PS2 is a Max Performance Summer tire
member of the Michelin Pilot family of low profile,
high-speed tires. Initially developed for Original
Equipment (O.E.) on some of the world's most prestigious
sports cars and performance sedans, the Pilot Sport PS2
combines world-class dry road traction, handling and
cornering. Some of the first Pilot Sport PS2 O.E.
fitments included the BMW Alpina Z8, McLaren SLR and
Porsche GT2 & GT3 models. The Pilot Sport PS2 is not
intended to be driven in near-freezing temperatures,
through snow or on ice.
On the outside, Pilot Sport PS2 features two different
tread rubber compounds (a hybrid silica/carbon black
compound that begins at the tire's outer shoulder and
continues across the tread until it joins a high-silica
compound that continues to the tire's inside shoulder)
molded into an asymmetric design with large outer
shoulder blocks and continuous intermediate and center
ribs to enhance steering response and cornering
stability. Both tread compounds are specifically
formulated for their location to combine dry and wet
traction with crisp corning and high speed capability.
The tread design also features wide circumferential
grooves and lateral notches that help channel water
through the footprint to enhance wet road traction.
On the inside, the tread design is supported by two
high-tensile, lightweight steel cord belts that are
further reinforced by size-optimized, precisely placed
individual Aramid/nylon hybrid filaments to provide
improved steering response and resistance to distortion
while enhancing ride quality and high-speed durability.

 |
|
Pilot Sport A/S Plus |
|
The Pilot
Sport A/S Plus is the Ultra High Performance
All-Season tire member of Michelin's Pilot family of low
profile, high-speed tires that represents the evolution
of the Pilot Sport A/S. Developed for the drivers of
high-end sports cars, sporty coupes and performance
sedans, the Pilot Sport A/S Plus is designed to combine
enhanced all-weather performance, wet grip and treadwear
along with year-round traction, including in light snow.
The Pilot Sport A/S Plus features Michelin's TriFusion
Compound that molds three different tread compounds
side-by-side using the precise capabilities of
Michelin's "C3M" tire manufacturing process. The tread
compound in both shoulders improves dry handling, the
compound used between the shoulders and center rib
enhances wet, snow and cold weather traction while the
compound used in the center rib boosts wet traction.
These three compounds are molded into a directional
tread design (shared with Pilot Sport A/S tires) that
features a continuous circumferential center rib (to
provide communicative road feel and reduce noise on dry
roads), high angle directional tread blocks (to sharpen
steering response and dry road handling) along with
circumferential and high angle lateral grooves (to
resist hydroplaning and enhance wet traction). The
tire's internal structure includes two high-tensile,
lightweight steel cord belts under the tread area
reinforced with Michelin's "Filament At Zero" (FAZ)
technology that spirally wraps an individual strand of
polyamide across the entire tread (similar to the way
fishing line is wound onto a fishing reel) to increase
treadwear and ride comfort while providing high speed
durability and predictable handling.
NOTE: Pilot Sport A/S Plus tires can be mixed with
earlier Pilot Sport A/S tires in axle pairs as long as
the Pilot Sport A/S Plus tires are installed on the rear
axle.

Pilot
Exalto A/S radials are the entry-level High
Performance All-Season members of Michelin's Pilot
family of performance tires. Pilot Exalto A/S radials
are designed for sports cars, coupes and sedans to blend
responsive handling and long wear with year-round
traction, even in light snow.
On the outside, Pilot Exalto A/S tires feature
Michelin's Life Maximized All-Season Adherence
Compounding (formulated to balance dry grip, wet
traction, light snow traction, and tread wear) molded
into a directional tread design to provide handling in
nearly every weather condition. Siped independent tread
blocks combined with wide circumferential grooves and
variable width lateral tread grooves help eject water
from under the contact patch to resist hydroplaning and
enhance wet traction.
Internally, the Pilot Exalto A/S radial's twin steel
belts are reinforced using Michelin's Banded At Zero (BAZ)
technology (spiral-wrapped reinforcement) to stabilize
the tread area, allowing it to withstand centrifugal
forces at high speeds while minimizing tire weight and
improving ride uniformity.
Michelin Pilot Exalto A/S tires feature black sidewall
styling with black letters reversed out of a
circumferential serrated band.
